The aim is to develop new oil spill sensors that measure the surface area and thickness of the oil layer, providing an objective and accurate measure of the amount of oil discharged into the marine environment.

The objective is to develop and commercialise online oil spill identification sensors for vessels and offshore structures, thereby providing authorities with the means to enforce environmental legislation within sensitive marine areas.
